Our Disciples Are Missionaries Too!

When we assessed the Zambian government’s mandates for COVID-19 protocols nationwide, it at first appeared like ministry would be stifled and not much would be accomplished this year. We had plans for big crusades to bring hundreds of souls to Christ. We had plans for a massive harvest celebration which would bring thousands together to glorify God for His provision over this past rainy season. We had plans for numerous visitors and conferences. But by faith we knew that absolutely nothing can limit God or contain Him and He is not stopping just because the rest of the world is on lockdown!

Because we travel to the city routinely where cases of COVID-19 are prevalent we have to be more cautious about not coming in contact with too many people out here. This means we have had to rely heavily on our indigenous disciples to push ministry forward. Normally we receive two expedition teams from Overland each year but this year expeditions have been cancelled. This left our disciples eager to form their own expedition team without us to reach a remote area called Simulilika. Our area managers, together with their wives and other disciples packed camping gear and belongings and hiked over mountains to reach the isolated villages. They camped there for 5 days and visited many households. These are just two of many amazing testimonies they came back and shared:

While one of our disciples named Kebby was preaching at someone’s home, he suddenly was filled with the Holy Spirit for the first time! He then asked if there was anyone who was sick. The people brought him to a little girl who was sick hadn’t eaten or drank anything for one week and was at the point of death. The group prayed for her and she recovered soon after!

When Loyd was ministering at a certain home, he received a word of knowledge that someone had a hearing problem. There was a man there whose family had to shout for him to hear them. After they prayed for him, he could even hear a whisper!

The team was so excited about how God used them that they are ready to plan more expeditions!

They ministered to 373 people.
13 baptisms!
111 healings and 155 salvations!

Ever since we moved here in 2015, Jesse has held a Monday meeting in a certain place between two massive fig trees in the village. It is more than a Bible Study; it’s for identifying and equipping men and women who are hungry to be used by God in ministry. A couple weeks ago Jesse made the strategic move to split the group by sending our area managers off to different villages to start the same meeting there. Pastor Nehru, Livias, Elisha, and Loyd all reported with excitement about the great turnout they’ve already had. This is a HUGE deal! Yes, more people are hearing the Word of God, and more people will be saved, but ultimately more indigenous ministers will rise up out of these groups, ready to be sent to their own people.
